Linking GoingCrazy201's FFIX Walkthrough on Youtube. This user hits a LOT of little hidden dialogue things that are easily missed! Encounters&shopping are included, so you'll want to do a lot of scrolling on through to get to the story/dialogue bits. Each of these videos run somewhere in the 30+ minute range, so get comfy. I started annotating some important bits as I went along to help those looking for a particular scene. I still suggest having a script dump open in one tab to help you look for something--or leave me a note! I'll find it and get back to you.

ALTERNATELY, HERE is a play-through of the game which includes obtaining Excalibur II, which means that they hit disc 4 in under 12 hours. Not that I expect you to sit through random encounters in either case. ANYWAY IT IS SHORTER AND ALREADY ORGANIZED FOR YOU.

Square-Enix issued an announcement today about FFXIII! Really, spare yourself watching the video: the new footage is just some gameplay stuff (when you hit monsters, numbers come out of them! Quelle surprise) and the rest is amazing amounts of corporate auto-fellatio and hyperbole.

The game is coming out in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010.

Here is how it works. Today is October 22nd. I am posting a relationship meme. The catch is, you have to comment to it asking about a relationship we don't have yet. Either the characters haven't threaded or they've threaded like once.

On November 22nd I will reply to the meme. That means we have a month to try and actually create that relationship. SO the FFIX Playarts are finally being shipped out soon (well. Hopefully. I've had the set on-order from Toywiz since August. We'll see). Inevitably, the finished products appear to be different from the prototypes. I snooped around Hobby Search for pix, and this is what I got:

Ah, there's nothing like running head-first into some of the absolute wacky horseshit that ends up on TV Tropes to finally get you to close the goddamn tabs. From the "Dark is not Evil" listing:

The video games Star Ocean: The Second Story and Final Fantasy IX have child magic users Leon and Vivi, respectively, available as player characters. Both of them, especially Leon, use shadowy and dark magic in some of their attacks, even to the point of summoning up the Grim Reaper to instantly destroy the villains, but neither Leon or Vivi are themselves evil. Vivi being a clone of the main villain, in a sense, only makes this more poignant.

That is not true by any stretch of the imagination. And dear god, Vivi does not need to be more poignant.

SORRY FOR NOT BEING AROUND. Between internet sucking and working on a stuff I've been sorta MIA. And I will continue to be so until the weekend at least, since tomorrow I am going to frolick with professional fursuiters and get wet on a huge piece of wood. I finally managed to find a non-crappy end-game save beat IX on ye olde emulator the other night, and I was an enormous woobie who 1) cried and 2) forgot a detail that made me all baaaaaaawwwwwful. So I capped it:

I have no idea if they'll wind up as an option on the Japanese release of the game (how else would they shill an International version of the game 6 months later?), BUT what I'm getting at is that spoilers are very likely to come up and people are going to want to talk about them! And some people will not. So I have preemptively set up a FFXIII spoilerchan: #pulselcie

Now I generally play fast and loose with spoilers, so my purpose in this post is asking this: What do you NOT want discussed in #victoryfanfare re: Final Fantasy XIII?
